Hanoi Family Homestay Wants to Help You Visit Vietnam!
Citizens of the following countries do not need to obtain a visa to enter Vietnam for tourism if the intended length of stay is between 15 and 45 days:
Belarus, Brunei, Cambodia, Chile, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Norway, Panama, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, and the UK.
Citizens of all other countries will need to have an electronic visa (e-visa) before they may enter Vietnam. The e-visa is valid for up to 90 days and can be single-entry or multiple-entry; it can’t be extended. If you want to stay in Vietnam for longer than 90 days, you’ll need to exit the country before your current visa expires and re-apply for a new visa.
There are two ways to obtain a tourist visa to Vietnam.
The first way is to apply through the National Web Portal on Immigration. You’ll need to have a passport photo taken within the past six months, a copy of the front information page of your passport, the visa application form, and payment. The visa generally takes three to five days, though delays are possible. We recommend getting the visa before booking your transportation to Vietnam in case of delays. Once approved, print out the e-visa and take it with you, along with proof of your ticket out of Vietnam. You may then enter Vietnam by any airport, sea port, or overland border crossing. Single-entry e-visas through the official government website cost US$25, and multiple-entry e-visas cost US$50.
The only disadvantages to getting your visa to Vietnam through the official page are that the application form is detailed and confusing, and applications are often denied due to photos being unacceptable or for various clerical errors. This can significantly delay the processing of your visa, and for this reason, we recommend using a visa agent. The additional cost is minimal and the process is easy. You receive the same e-visa that you would have by going through the official government website but without the hassle.
It takes less than a week to get an e-visa through our visa agent. Simply email us a clear scan of the first page of your passport, a passport photo that has been taken within the past six months, the date and place where you will be entering Vietnam, your desired length of stay up to 90 days, and whether you are requesting a single or multiple entry visa. Agent-assisted single-entry visas valid for up to 90 days cost US$55; multiple-entry visas valid for up to 90 days cost US$90.
Your passport must have at least six month’s validity, so if your passport is about to expire, you will need to get a new one before you travel abroad.
Once the application has been approved, we will email you the official e-visa. You’ll need to print this out and present it to the officer as you pass through immigration. The officer will stamp your passport and that’s it!
You cannot enter Vietnam before the first date of entry on your e-visa, but you can arrive any time after that date. You must exit the country by the last date of your e-visa. As an example, if you apply for a 90-day visa with an arrival date of January 1, 2025, you can enter Vietnam on or after January 1, 2025, but your last day in the country must be on or before March 31, 2025.
We suggest applying for a Vietnamese e-visa at least two weeks before your arrival date.
Thank you and we look forward to welcoming you to our home!
